📖 Read: Two young peacemakers أقرأ

Daniel Okafor, 17, lives in Marseille, a big French city where many immigrants and refugees arrive every year. When he was ten, a boy from Syria joined his class. The boy didn’t speak French and couldn’t fit in. Daniel sat next to him and taught him words with drawings. Today Daniel runs a football club for 60 children from 14 countries. “Sport has one language,” he says. “I hope that one day nobody will feel like a stranger here.”

Aïcha Traoré, 16, comes from a country in West Africa that suffered from a civil war. Some people in her village were tortured or lost their homes, and families stopped talking to each other. Aïcha and her friends created a choir. They sing songs about peace, tolerance and reconciliation in markets and schools. Little by little, old enemies started to sit together and listen. Many people call Aïcha a young peacemaker, because she helps solve conflicts between neighbours. “I hope our children will only know war from history books,” she says.

Daniel and Aïcha have never met, but they have the same dream: a world where people respect each other.

A model text to compare with (after writing mine)

Good morning, everyone. Our project is called “Helping Hands”. In our school, some pupils feel left out because they are new, shy or different. Last month, our group organised a “Welcome Day”. We made a map of the school for new pupils, we played games in mixed teams, and we wrote kind messages on a big wall. A girl from Libya told us that it was her best day here. We hope that this day will become a tradition. I hope that nobody will laugh at a classmate because of his accent or his clothes. Finally, we hope that you will join us next year. Thank you for listening!

One good example among many: compare, don’t copy.
